Living donation is a voluntary gift of one kidney (we only need one) by a person who is able. Donors are thoroughly tested to ensure a SAFE and HEALTHY outcome for both the Donor and the Recipient. Medical expenses, travel, lodging and time lost at work are typically covered and it's our mission to support donors and recipients on this very private journey.
Over 100,000 people in the U.S. are currently waiting for a kidney transplant, making it the most in-demand organ for transplantation. Behind each number is a real person—a parent, a sibling, a child—facing the unimaginable challenge of life on dialysis or the uncertainty of waiting for a match. Every day, approximately 12 people die waiting for a kidney, simply because there aren’t enough donors to meet the need.
You have the power to change that. By stepping forward as a living kidney donor, you can be the hero who answers someone’s prayers, giving them the gift of life and hope. Your selfless act won’t just save one life—it will transform the lives of an entire family, giving them more time with their loved one and a future they thought might not be possible.
Becoming a living donor may seem like a big decision, but it’s one that comes with extraordinary rewards, both for the recipient and for you. Seven years ago, our family faced an unimaginable crisis. Just six weeks after Ilona’s father passed away from complications related to kidney failure, Matt Fischer—her husband, a devoted father, and a gentle soul—was unexpectedly diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure. His kidneys were functioning at just 5%, his Creatinine levels had soared above 10, and his other organs—especially his heart—were under immense strain as they worked to compensate.
The wait for a transplant was projected to be three or more years, and dialysis, while a temporary measure, was further increasing his risk of heart complications. Matt needed a kidney transplant—fast.
Through the selflessness of a living kidney donor, we were given the gift of life—a true Christmas miracle on December 24, 2017. This act of courage and compassion not only saved Matt’s life but gave our family a future filled with love, gratitude, and hope. Today, we’re dedicated to helping others receive that same life-changing gift.
